If you’re anything like us, your pets are like children to you! Whether you have a dog, a cat, a rabbit (or ten of each), you want to make sure that your rugs are practical and comfortable for them, too. This list will hopefully help you to decide which type and style of rug will work best for you – and your little fuzzy sidekicks!
Matching fluff to floor
It doesn’t take a lot of knowledge to know that your jet black labrador’s hairs are going to stick out like a sore thumb on a pale-coloured rug. So, it’s best to try to match your rug to your pet’s fur. A distressed traditional will simultaneously add a modern, classy touch, whilst disguising those sheddings.
Every dog or cat owner is familiar with the ‘zoomies’ – when your pet goes into overdrive and tears around the house at full speed! While this can be incredibly entertaining, we all know that it can sometimes mess up our decor or worse – cause injury to the animal. To stop rugs slipping, it’s wise to add a fleece underlay to your rug.
It also may be wise to get rugs that are washable, particularly for inside the front or back door for those muddy paws! This type of rug tends to be very affordable, and they come in a wide range of colours and patterns.
Avoid looped pile or high pile
Dogs and bunnies sometimes love digging imaginary holes, and unfortunately this can leave your rug in tatters. Try to avoid looped or woven pile that can catch on nails. Short, cut piles are the way to go. For cats, any furniture can end up as a claw-sharpening scratcher – make sure you have a cat scratching post that they can use instead!
Do you love to spoil your furbabies? There’s nothing a pet loves more than being right beside you on the sofa all snuggled up. So why not go all-out and get them a sheepskin to lie on? It also adds a lovely rustic touch to your living room.
