Rugs are great to add colour and texture to your home but they can also be used to create zones especially in open spaces. Here are some great tips on which rugs to use in different areas.
Adding a large rug to a living area and running it under or just next to furniture will bring all the furniture together. A neutral colour is great for larger sizes as this won’t look to busy with soft furnishing.
Creating a ‘dining zone’ with a colour flatweave rug under the table will add a stunning pop of colour to open spaces. Flatweaves are great for under tables as they are made from woven wool, cotton or jute which are all durable and easily cleaned.
Cowhides and sheepskins can be used in bedrooms to create coziness but also to zone areas within the room. For instance a sheepskin in front of the wardrobe where you dress or next to the bed. The non-symmetrical shape of a cowhide is great to accent a reading chair or add natural colour into the interior design.
Rugs can be used in kids room to create zones relating to play, reading or sleeping. This will mean that the kids dens or bedrooms can be multi-functional. Rugs in kids rooms are also great to add texture and soften hard floor when playing. They can even become part of the game, like our road playmat below.
We have a wide selection of rugs on our website or you can call into our Belfast or Newry Showrooms.
